Wyrd Sisters triumph at the Senior School
Audiences at the BSN Senior School were treated to two spectacular performances of Terry Pratchett's play - Wyrd Sisters.
The play, adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs, was based on Terry Pratchett’s famous Discworld novel which in turn was an overt pastiche on Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' with a sprinkling of 'Hamlet' and a smidgeon of 'King Lear' thrown in to keep things interesting!
The setting for the play was created by a stunning set and atmospheric lighting which combined with a range of earsplitting sound effects to create a suitably medieval, Discworld feel. The actors wore stunning costumes which had been painstakingly stitched by a talented band of seamstresses. The cast was littered with kings, dukes, duchesses, jesters, babies and of course witches. The witches spearheaded tremendous performances from what was clearly a gifted group of students.
The hours of rehearsals and preparation to put on this lavish production was evident and it wouldn’t have been as successful had numerous members of staff and students put in so much hard work. If you missed it, look out for the DVD.
