BSN accepts keys for Leidschenveen Campus

After many months of planning, designing, building and refining the BSN has now proudly taken ownership of its newest campus in Leidschenveen.

The large campus comprises the Junior School building - with a fully integrated after school care facility; a Day Care Centre offering high quality provision for 0-3 year olds, and a community building which includes a new Language Centre, a full sized sports hall, a canteen area, the BSN Uniform Shop and a number of BSN administrative offices.

This imaginative and striking learning environment uses geo-thermal underground heat pumps and solar panels to help heat the school - measures that have have led to all three buildings gaining an A grade green calc qualification – the best possible in the Netherlands.

Over the next three weeks all the new furniture and fittings will be delivered and put in place and learning resources will gradually be transferred from the school's temporary location on the Tarwekamp in Mariahoeve.  The children will move in after the half term break with their first day of school being Wednesday 24th February.

Both children and staff are understandably excited at the thought of moving in and working and learning in the wonderful new facilities.  The large well equipped sports hall housed in the Community Building, at the end of the campus, will also be available for use by students from all the BSN schools.

The brand new Day Care Centre, run by experienced international childcare specialists Zein Childcare and located on the school campus, opened its doors on Monday 1st February, welcoming children aged from 0-3 years old.  “Robbie’s Place” is a vibrant and spacious purpose-built environment where children will experience a tailored programme of childcare incorporating each child’s individual eating, sleeping and playing patterns, just like at home.

The BSN’s Language Centre has also moved to the new campus which provides both teachers and students with the very best in modern teaching and learning facilities. These include more classrooms equipped with the latest technology to maximise language learning potential.  The increased space and facilities will also make it possible to provide a wider choice of language courses in the future.

This new campus marks a new chapter in the BSN's history with the school now able to provide more high quality school places than ever before for The Hague's international community.
