Excellent inspection report for BSN

previous next

Following a full inspection from the Independent Schools Inspectorate in September 2009 the BSN is pleased to publish the report to parents.

The school was inspected over 3 days by 21 experienced inspectors from the UK and headteachers from other international schools.

The school governors are delighted with the complimentary report, which judged many elements of the school as 'outstanding'.   For instance the report says:  “Pupils at the British School in the Netherlands are well educated...Pupils’ learning is good and frequently outstanding and their achievement is good” ; “the quality of teaching is good across the school and frequently outstanding”; “Cultural development is outstanding...pupils are at ease with each other, and racial and cultural tolerance is evident throughout the school”;  “The quality of the pastoral care and the welfare, health and safety of pupils is outstanding”; “Relationships between adults and pupils, and amongst pupils are excellent”; “Leadership and management are good overall with some outstanding elements”.

There are no weaknesses identified, but there are recommendations for the next steps which the school needs to take as it moves towards the next stage in its development and to ensure the continuing provision of a world-class education.  The Principal, governors and headteachers will of course be considering these recommendations, which we anticipate can without difficulty be achieved.
