ISST Swimming Competition 2009

After months of hard training, the BSN Swim Team travelled to Leuven in Belgium for the 2009 ISST Swimming Championships.  They gave an outstanding performance and surpassed the already impressive results of recent years.

The tournament was hosted by The British School of Brussels and the BSN put forward 20 swimmers who entered into 36 events.  The following results were achieved:

BSN Qualified for 34 of 36 Finals.

In those finals, 13 gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals were won.

5 ISST records were broken.

60 Personal Best times were swum.

23 school records were broken.

The Varsity Boys won Gold in both the Medley and Freestyle relays in record time.

The Varsity Girls won a Bronze and a Silver in their respective relays. (1st ever for BSN).

Finished 1st in the Varsity Boys Division (1st time ever for BSN).

Finished as runnersup in the Varsity Girls Division (1st Trophy ever in this division).

Finished as runners up in the Boys Junior Varsity division.

This was a truly exceptional performance by the BSN Swim Team beating many of the impressive set of results achieved in recent years. A huge amount of time and effort has gone into achieving this result, be it from swimmers, coaches, parents and support staff, but I am sure they all feel it was well worth the effort. Amongst all the impressive results and achievements, is one small, but often over-looked statistic, the BSN was the only school at ISST to not get a single swimmer DQ ‘d in the entire event, a testament to the high standards of performance set and maintained at the club.

Congratulations to the team and a big thank you to all the coaching staff and parents for their support!
