JSL - Keeping you in the loop!
One of the most exciting things about our new school building that is rapidly taking shape at Leidschenveen is seeing plans and drawings coming to life — in front of our very eyes!
THE STORY SO FAR....
In the Autumn Term of the school year 08-09, we spent most of our meeting time with our project manager making final decisions about the fit and finish of the school building, our day care and office building as well as the sports and community building. We have ordered some superb sports equipment which will make the sports hall a wonderful place for us all to enjoy learning about health, fitness and teamwork as well as giving us lots of opportunities to play games and sports that we all enjoy.
In January our builders worked very hard to keep the project on schedule even there were lots of days with zero temperatures! Recently we spent some time talking with the project managers talking about the Design Technology and Food Technology classrooms — thinking about how best to create a fantastic learning space for everyone.
In February we met with the team of designers who are going to be building our outdoor learning and play spaces, looking at plans and making improvements. I am really excited about these play areas. Everyone will have the chance to meet and play outside with friends, play sport, as well as enjoy learning about the environment. We are even going to have our own vegetable garden to grow some food...and then eat it!
When we set up our new student council in the summer term this year, a first task for the students will be to choose some of the outdoor play apparatus and make decisions about where it will be located. So watch out for more news items about the student council later this year!
