JSV F2 EAL mother tongue story sessions
This week the mother tongue story sessions have kick started with great success! F2 EAL parents have been invited in to school to read a story in their mother tongue as part of our topic on Favourite stories.
The first mother tongue stories were held this week. 23 children from F1 to Y1 came along to listen to a story told in German. A smaller group listened to two short stories in Russian. All the children listened eagerly to their storyteller and commented on parts of the story in their home language. It was lovely to share this valuable moment with our talented bilingual/multilingual learners. Some children who are beginning to speak English chattered with confidence in their home language. We look forward to our forthcoming story sessions in many other languages.
