JSV International Student Representatives

On Wednesday 25th February the Year 5 and Year 6 Assembly was led by the International Student Representatives. The assembly theme was 'World Religions'.

The International Student Representatives provided lots of interesting facts about World Religions as well as explaining what a religion is and why religions exist. They also explained that not everybody has a religion.

Four of the representatives spoke in their Mother Tongue and English about whether they follow a religion or not. Awantika, Gustav, Ivonne and Julia spoke with confidence in their mother tongues to tell the audience about their religion or beliefs.

The assembly ended with the message that religions have lots of similar rules. Three very important rules for all religions are:

                                      Love each
                                      Respect each other
Live in peace with each other

and whatever your beliefs, wherever you live – you can make the world a safer and kinder place.

All of the representatives spoke clearly and gave a very polished presentation and the audience responded by giving them a spontaneous round of applause.

After the presentation Mr Berwick congratulated each representative and officially gave them their badge. For the first time the list of countries representatives included a representative each for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. There was a very long line of proud faces!
