Storks on the internet!

previous next

As from Sunday 1st March, we will all be able to see the 'BSN Storks' on their nest - live pictures from our webcam will be available whether viewers log in from home or at school.

Once again the pair of white storks are very busy at the Junior School in Vlaskamp as they prepare their nest for the season ahead.

As some of you will already know we have been aiming to make the live pictures, which all BSN staff and students enjoyed last year, available to a wider audience. We hope that this has now been achieved, as on hearing of our nest and camera, ‘Vogelbescherming Nederland’ asked us if they could use our signal on their website: http://www.beleefdelente.nl/

This site offers live images of several different nest cameras around Holland. It is scheduled to open on Sunday 1 March and continue to broadcast through the breeding period until July.  As a result, anyone in the world connected to the internet will be able to watch the progress of our own ‘BSN Storks’ throughout daylight hours.

A television programme on ‘VARA’ on Tuesday 3 March called ‘Vroege Vogels’ (Ned 2, 19:25 – repeated Wed 19:55) will be announcing the opening of this website and may well contain some brief images of our school playground and our storks.

So please try the website after 1 March, bookmark it, show it to your friends and colleagues, and let’s hope for a successful breeding season.

Many thanks to all the technical staff for making this possible and, again to the PTA for funding the camera last year.
