School Sports Teams & Clubs
Sport is an integral part of the curriculum for all age groups. Our Co-curricular sports and activities programme helps to support this by encouraging each student to participate individually or in teams, either recreationally or competitively in a large variety of sports. The BSN has a large number of co-curricular sports clubs which allow pupils to participate on a competitive basis. Sporting achievements, both large and small, are regularly acknowledged in school assemblies and in a more formal way at the annual Senior School Prizegiving with the presentation of shields and trophies.
The BSN also organises sports on a recreational level for those pupils who wish to participate just for fun, or who would like to have the opportunity to try out a variety of sports. Recent sports on offer have included: Swimming; Rugby; Gymnastics; Hockey; Football; Basketball; Netball; Golf; Athletics; Aerobics; Badminton etc.
Clubs, Activities and Music
The school organises a large range of clubs and activities both during lunch time and after school. These clubs and activities are run on BSN premises by staff and vomunteers and offer something for all tastes. The exact programme of extracurricular activities varies from term to term depending on numbers, but it may be possible for completely new activities to be set up if demand from students is great enough.
Recent activties on offer have included: Choir; Chess; Computer Club; Science Club; Drumming; Maths Club; Drama; Concert Band; History Club; Speech & Debate; Drama; Orchestra; Swing Band; Young Enterprise; International Award (DofE); Youth Club etc.
Instrumental Lessons
The school works with a comprehensive range of visiting instrumental teachers and coordinates the individual lessons offered to BSN students. Lessons in guitar, singing, piano and drum kit are available for Years 7, 8 and 9 during school lessons on a rotation basis, so that students experience minimum curriculum disruption. The full range of lessons are then available from the end of school on into the evening.
The Centre for Young Musicians
In addition to these lessons there is also a separate organisation which was established to further extend the opportunities available to talented musicians at the BSN. The Centre for Young Musicians is run exclusively for BSN students and is held on the Junior School Diamanthorst site every Saturday afternoon. Further information can be found on the Centre for Young Musician's website.
Language Clubs
The BSN Language Centre also organises after school Language Clubs for BSN children. Mother Tongue General Language Classes are available. For further information please contact the BSN Language Centre.
