Admissions Process

At the BSN, we are a non-selective school and welcome applications from students of all abilities throughout the year. We currently have availability in all year groups. 

A simple, three-step path to explore the BSN and feel confident in your decision to enrol at our school. 

 

1. Enquire 

This is the perfect first step. Ask us a question or request personalised information to learn more about our programmes. There is no obligation, and our team is ready to help.

 

2. Visit

See learning in action with a personal tour. 

Once you have clicked on one of the campuses, please ensure you choose Junior School for either Junior School Leidschenveen or Junior School Vlaskamp, OR Senior School for either Senior School Leidschenveen or Senior School Voorschoten to make use of the booking calendar.

For families who are unable to visit yet, we are happy to schedule an online call at a time that is convenient for you. You can arrange this via email

Choosing the right school for your child (and family) is a personal choice, and our staff is here to support you each step of the way.  

3. Apply

When you are ready to join, we will guide you through our clear and straightforward application process. We welcome applications throughout the year.

For each application, we charge a non-refundable fee of €250. (Families with a child already at the BSN do not need to pay this fee.)

  • Once we have approved your application and you decline, we will retain the application fee.
  • We will refund your application fee in the unlikely event that we are unable to offer a place to your child.

Practical Information 

BSN Key Stages

The British System is organised into year groups; these year groups are then arranged into 'Key Stages', which together make up the curriculum structure. We work on 1 September as the key entry date for each school year. The age of a child on this date determines the year group to which they are allocated. 

Foundation Stage / Ages 3-5

The first chapter of your child’s education begins at Foundation Stage, with children aged 3 to 5 years old.

Our two Junior School campuses for children aged 3 to 10 years are located in The Hague area. 

We focus on the holistic development of your child. Together with our strong Co-Curricular programme, we aim to develop talents and skills in all of our students.

The British School in The Netherlands offers two outstanding senior schools. Senior School Leidschenveen is located in the residential Leidschenveen area of The Hague. Senior School Voorschoten is situated in Voorschoten, a small town surrounded by Leiden, Wassenaar and The Hague.

Key Stage 5 / Years 12-13

Sixth Form is an exciting and challenging time where your child aged 16-18 focuses on subjects they’re passionate about. They spend these two years getting ready for their future. 

BSN students are able to study the subjects that interest them most and are given an unparalleled opportunity to prepare for higher education.
