On 30 September, we were delighted to host our Alumni Careers Network Event for Sixth Form (Year 12 / 13) students at The British School in The Netherlands, Senior School Voorschoten (SSV). We invited BSN Alumni from all over the world to return to the BSN to share their experiences with our students.
Hearing from our alumni
Students pre-selected areas, or careers, they were interested in and were assigned to meet specific alumni with relevant experience.

Following the ‘meet and greets’, there was also an opportunity to talk and network freely with BSN Alumni to find out more about their chosen profession or career path while enjoying drinks and nibbles.
Helping students to make informed choices
By providing a different viewpoint and an additional source of information to students - at a pivotal point in their school life - we hope they will be even better equipped to make informed decisions about their university choices and future career paths.
Valued members of the BSN community
We very much enjoyed welcoming our Alumni back to the BSN and seeing our students interact with and learn from them. They returned to Senior School Voorschoten for our Big BSN Reunion 2022 the following day on 1 October – our first reunion event in four years and a welcome opportunity to reconnect in an informal setting. Our Alumni are extremely important to the BSN and valued members of our growing BSN community. We aim to continue to strengthen further the ties with our Alumni network within the coming years.
BSN Alumna Julia Mettler (Class of 2017) was also in attendance at the event, offering her perspective on working in the field of Animal Science to students. Julia remarked on the experience:
"I had some fabulous questions from the students there during the career event. Some of these questions really made me reflect on my past choices."
One question I was asked was if I would do everything exactly as I did if I found myself back in time. My answer: yes, yes, I would!
