The closing date has passed, can I still apply?

Unfortunately we do not accept any applications which are received after the closing date. This enables us to continue with our short listing process within the timescales that are indicated in the advert.

May I send in an open application?

All of our vacancies are displayed on the “Current Vacancies” page of our website. Unfortunately due to the volume of applications we receive we cannot accept open applications – however you can Sign up to our Job Alerts and we will inform you when we post a position in your chosen categories.

Can I apply for more than one vacancy?

It is possible to apply for more than one vacancy at any one time. However, you must complete the application procedure for each vacancy you are applying for.

When will my references be checked?

If you have applied for a role where you will be working directly with students we will contact your referees prior to interview.  For all other roles we will contact you referees after an offer of employment. All contracts of employment are subject to receiving two satisfactory references and a satisfactory criminal record check(s). Upon offer of employment further details of how to obtain the relevant criminal check(s) will be given.

I have previously applied for a post at the BSN and was unsuccessful. Can I try again?

We recruit on a post by post basis and each on merit; therefore you are free to apply again.

I would like to apply for a vacancy, but don’t have a work permit for The Netherlands. Can I still apply?

Unfortunately we are unable to support an individual’s work permit application upon an offer of employment.  You must therefore have a valid Dutch work permit “Werkvergunning” at the time of applying.  Where applicable you must upload your work permit when completing our application form. EU citizens do not need a work permit to work in The Netherlands and are therefore exempt of this requirement.

I live outside of The Netherlands – does the BSN reimburse my travel expenses for the interview?

This depends on the type of post you are applying for.  If applicable, details of travel expenses will be explained to you if you are invited for an interview.
