We are planning for the future of the BSN to ensure a high-quality, sustainable education for every learner in our care.
As The British School in the Netherlands (BSN) approaches its centenary in 2031, we continue to evolve with purpose, building on our strengths and looking ahead to the next generation of learners.
As part of this long-term planning, we recently shared our intention to consolidate our two Senior Schools into a single BSN Senior School, based at our Voorschoten campus, by September 2028.
Our two Junior Schools will remain on their current campuses, continuing to provide a strong foundation for our youngest learners.

A Stronger Senior School for the Future
Bringing our Senior Schools together creates a significant opportunity to enhance the experience we offer.
A single BSN Senior School will allow us to:
- Offer a broader and more flexible curriculum
- Strengthen our Sixth Form pathways
- Expand opportunities beyond the classroom
- Bring together expertise from across our staff
This will support a more connected, dynamic, and enriching environment for our learners as they prepare for their next steps.
Building on Our Strengths
Both of our current Senior Schools have strong identities, experienced staff, and thriving communities.
The new BSN Senior School will build on these strengths, bringing together the best of what already exists to create something even stronger.
Over the coming years, we will continue to work with staff, learners, and families to shape this shared vision.

What This Means for Our Learners
There are no immediate changes for learners currently in the Senior School.
The transition will take place gradually:
- From September 2027, new Year 7 learners and new examination pathways will be based at Voorschoten
- From September 2028, all Senior School year groups will be together on one campus
This phased approach allows us to support learners carefully throughout.
