You and your child (aged 8-10) are warmly invited to experience everyday learning at the BSN Junior Schools first-hand.

Join us for this 'hands-on' afternoon, designed to reflect school life. Experience engaging specialist lessons that encourage curiosity, creativity, and exploration!

Junior School Taster Afternoons | 4 & 11 March 2026

We invite you to visit one or both of our Junior School campuses

What to Expect

Your child will join small groups for several learning activities that mirror a typical school day. These may include:

  • Forest School
  • Food Technology
  • Computing
  • Science

Each activity is led by specialist teachers who know how to spark curiosity while helping children feel comfortable and confident from the moment they arrive.

While your child is learning, you'll have space to observe how teachers support, stretch, and encourage each student at the right pace. You'll also be able to:

  • See learning in action and understand how we nurture confidence, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging.
  • Speak with staff about how we help new students settle quickly and feel at home.
  • Gain practical insight into our curriculum, learning outcomes, and how we prepare children for a smooth transition to Senior School.

We look forward to welcoming you to one or both of our Junior School Taster Afternoons!

What is Forest School?

Originating in Scandinavia, Forest School is an outdoor learning approach that develops confidence, autonomy and environmental stewardship in children through regular, hand-on learning experiences in a natural environment. t emphasises unstructured exploration, supported risk-taking, and connection with nature, typically operating in all weather conditions.

The BSN introduced Forest School 10 years ago and has specially trained staff.

What parents say about the Junior School experience:

What I value most are the ways the children are taught. I love how everything is put into practice. I love their outdoor experiences and the opportunities they have to learn instruments too.

I love the of resources and subjects, highly trained staff to manage difficult situations, open lines of communication with the staff and management, interesting curriculum (greater depth, not faster learning), development of the whole child mindset, teaching students about good mental health and wellbeing and supporting that in school.

I really value the sense of community at the BSN. The parents are warm, inclusive, and supportive, which creates a positive environment for both children and families. I also appreciate the community events, such as Trunk or Treat and the Summer Festival. These occasions bring people together, strengthen connections, and create a genuine sense of belonging, something that is so important for both students and parents.
