Another Phase complete in the development of the school campus

It is still dark outside when students from Senior School Leidschenveen arrive for the first day of the Spring Term. They make their way through a temporary “secret passage” between ongoing building work and emerge into their brightly lit, newly completed building. After a warm greeting from staff,  inspection of the new facilities begins!

There is definitely a lot of excited chatter as students roam their new building enjoying the feeling of space and newness. Staff are also excited and happy to spread out, after being restricted to one small part of the building during the construction. The open, communal spaces are already being utilised. It’s something special to be part of a new school, to see and be involved in the development. History in the making!

So, what’s changed?

Senior School Leidschenveen is our newest school and is in a process of growth and construction. It was established in September 2018 with two Year 7 classes in temporary classrooms. In September 2019 the school moved into the first phase of its new buildings with 86 students across Year 7 and 8.

Phase 2 of the building has just been completed in readiness for the new year. The new building features dedicated music teaching and practice Rooms (and a new Ukulele!), student social and collaborative working spaces and a brand new sports hall. Senior School Leidschenveen is situated next to Junior Leidschenveen providing the opportunity for a 3-18 learning continuum.

What’s Next?

Building work continues through the rest of the academic year on the main teaching block due for completion in July 2020. This phase will include six science laboratories, Design Technology and Food Technology rooms, Art Studios, 15 teaching spaces and a catering facility. Watch this space.
