Music / Performance Charity

Performing Arts Week is always a special one here at the BSN. It's a week bursting with lively concerts and melodic activities - all focussed on the celebration of drama, music and dance.

Following the success of last year's Performing Arts Week video to raise money for Save the Children, the Music Department decided to create another video for a new charity to promote during the week. Only this year was a little different - they chose a bit more modern song with Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop the Feeling, and the video included students and staff from not one campus but all four!

And it was no small feat to accomplish a video of this magnitude, but with the incentive of raising €3000 for UNICEF -a charity that helps children in war-torn or developing countries- it made the end result that much more important. You can read all about the filming process on our new Performing Arts Blog, but, needless to say, it took a lot of coordination and skill to accomplish this.

After launching the video on 1 May, the video was shared throughout the BSN community. It was featured on Dutch FM's Dutch Buzz programme, featured on The Hague Online, shared over 155 times on Facebook and has over 5800 views on YouTube. Families, friends and staff of the BSN contributed through the BSN UNICEF donation page, and on 22 May, we were able to hand over a cheque to Jill and Jan of UNICEF for 6,565.23!

Both Jill and Jan were surprised to see the final donation amount - as they were only expecting half the amount!

Thank you to everyone who participated, contributed, and donated to Performing Arts Week - it was a resounding success and it truly showed the spirit of the BSN!
