Student performers take home awards and give excellent performances at this year’s COBIS Music Festival in Madrid.

Eighteen students from the Senior and Junior schools travelled to King's College, The British School of Madrid this past weekend for the COBIS Music Festival, held 8-10 June. Over the course of the weekend, students participated in performances, social activities and excursions with students from international schools from around the world.

From a Battle of the Bands competition featuring pop and rock bands, to vocal and instrumental ensemble and solo performances, students had many opportunities to perform and showcase all their hard work leading up to the festival.

Overall, the BSN finished in second place, with students earning awards in the following categories:

  • Upper School Vocal Soloist – 1st place
  • Lower School Piano Soloist – 1st place
  • Overall Student Prize – 1st place
  • Upper School Vocal Ensemble – 2nd place
  • Upper School Piano Soloist – 2nd place
  • Battle of the Bands – 2nd place
  • Lower School Rock Soloist – 3rd Place

A BSN Senior Student’s original composition Painting was also chosen as the winner of the Composition Competition and named the “Anthem for COBIS”.  The festival came to a close with a performance of this piece, with the student conducting the orchestra and choir.

Thank you to all the students and the music staff for their dedication and hard work!
