We are excited to announce that an original music composition by BSN Senior School student Alys S. was chosen as the winner of the inaugural COBIS Composition Competition.

Her composition, Painting, will be rehearsed and performed this weekend to conclude the COBIS Music Festival, held from 8-10 June in Madrid, Spain, with Alys herself conducting the performance.

“I have been having vocal training for just over 8 years now, and wrote my first song when I was 10. I started to become more serious about composing three years ago, have really come to enjoy it, and want to write more music in the future. Having written over 25 songs, the composition for the COBIS competition was my first piece for choir and orchestra, which took hard work and dedication. I look forward to composing more pieces like this, and representing the BSN when conducting.”

It will surely be an incredible experience for this student not only see her original piece being performed, but to have the opportunity to conduct the choir and orchestra during the performance.

A selection of students from the senior and junior school level were chosen to represent the BSN at the COBIS Music Festival in Madrid this weekend. Congratulations to Alys and to all of the BSN students attending the Festival!
