Music / Performance

During the Half Term break, 21 BSN students travelled to southern Spain to compete in the COBIS music festival, hosted by the King's College, the British School of Murcia. The BSN were one of 10 schools from around the world with over 200 students competing in 14 different categories, sometimes with up to 30 in each!. These were ensemble, instrumental and vocal- in a competition of the highest standard. Music is rarely competitive and a little nervous tension was evident but we we're proud of, and amazed by all of our students and the hard work they have obviously put in- congratulations to all of them and of course to their teachers!

On the Sunday- results day!- all the instrumentalists were formed into an orchestra and the vocalists into a choir for a special concert showcasing the winners of each section. There was a great atmosphere amongst the students- lots of new friendships were made- this for me was the great success of this festival.

Special congratulations to our prize winners- Felix Reininghaus- Piano KS4/5, Alys Sheahan- voice KS3, SeRin Chung- flûte KS3 and the vocal group Alys, Serin, Alessandra Duijn and Anna Rehling- who were 1st. To Jiwu Sim- piano KS3, Peter Hopwood- piano KS4/5, Alistair Hopwood- clarinet KS4/5, the rock band - Gabriel del Rio Delgado, Elliot Hammond and Alys Sheehan - and the vocal group 'crescendo'- Alistair, Peter, Felix Thomas Weinberg and Pamilerin Adeyemo who came 2nd and to Valentin Joudrier- piano KS3, 3rd- and Loris Held Violin KS3- an Honorable Mention!
