Results Achievements

The British School in the Netherlands (BSN) is proud to announce the excellent results of our Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) and Senior School Voorschoten (SSV) Sixth Form International Baccalaureate (IB) students.

Recognising Two Years of Hard Work

International Baccalaureate students in the Diploma and Career-related Programmes received their results on Sunday 6 July. These results are a testament to our students' dedication and hard work over the two years of the IB programme.

Their well-deserved success is reflected in the pass rates across both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) – 99% and 88%, respectively.

Here are just a few of the students' achievements:

IBDP

  • Our students' average Diploma point score in the IBDP is an impressive 34.1, which compares favourably to the global average of 30.6.
  • 70% of SSL students exceeded the global average points score.
  • 22% of SSV achieved 40+ points.

IBCP

  • All students successfully completed the BTEC work-related element of the programme, and there were some very strong results in the DP components of the qualification.
  • Students achieved particularly strong results in their DP subjects, including outstanding performances in Psychology, Design Technology, Music, Visual Arts, and Geography, showcasing their ability to balance academic and career-related studies effectively.

Looking to the Future with Confidence

Students have received offers from a wide range of universities across Europe and beyond, including the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands), École des Hautes Études Commerciales du Nord (France), University of Toronto (Canada), Leiden University (the Netherlands), Bocconi University (Italy), University College London (United Kingdom), McGill University (Canada), Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Université Paris Sciences et Lettres (France), University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom), Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands), King's College London (United Kingdom), Wageningen University & Research (the Netherlands), London School of Economics (United Kingdom), TU Delft (the Netherlands), Abertay University (United Kingdom), Imperial College London (United Kingdom) and University of British Columbia (Canada).

Our offers span diverse fields of study and reflect the global outlook of our students. We anticipate that the majority of students will secure places at their first- or second-choice universities.

A Milestone for Senior School Leidschenveen

This year marks a proud milestone for the BSN as we celebrate the first cohort of IB students from Senior School Leidschenveen, the BSN's newest Senior School, which welcomed its first cohort of Year 7 students in September 2018, making this the school's first-ever set of IB exams.

This cohort has been the first to progress through SSL and has helped to shape the campus's culture and student experience.

Their achievements, alongside those of their peers at Senior School Voorschoten, are a testament to their hard work and the dedication of our BSN staff.

Duncan King, Acting Headteacher at SSL, on the students' achievements:

I am delighted to see the success achieved by our first SSL cohort of IB students and congratulate them on the hard work and determination that have helped them achieve these excellent results. The year group has much to celebrate, and I wish them well as they progress to their next stage of study.

"I would also like to thank all SSL teachers, support staff, and the families of our students for the part they have played in helping this cohort do so well."

Richard Black, IB Coordinator at SSL:

"As the 2025 IB cohort reaches the last of their first milestones as the first IB cohort at SSL, I would like to congratulate them on achieving a wonderful set of results. All your teachers are proud, and I hope you are proud, too, of what you have achieved. As you move onto the next stage of your journey as lifelong learners, we hope you remember how the perseverance and hard work over the last two years have paid off."

Celebrating Our Students' Successes

Notably, a student at SSV achieved an outstanding outcome of 44 points (out of a possible 45). This result is typically achieved by less than 1% of IBDP students globally.

Patrick Heuff, Headteacher at Senior School Voorschoten (SSV), shared his congratulations:

Firstly, I would like to extend my genuine pride in what this remarkable cohort of young people has achieved. The IB is a robust endeavour that requires commitment, perseverance and resilience. Congratulations to this group of curious, reflective, and hard-working learners!

"As always, these results only tell part of the story, and the progress each individual has made is about more than a number. It is a sterling outcome to have nearly a quarter of our IBDP students achieve 40+ points. I wish each one of you every success in whatever you are progressing on to."

Joseph Petrykowski, IB Coordinator at SSV:

"It is with great pride that I congratulate each and every one of our students on their remarkable success. Their dedication, perseverance, and consistent effort have been rightfully rewarded, and our community joins in celebrating these achievements.

I wish you all the very best for the future: whether you're heading to university, work, or new adventures, exciting times lie ahead!"

The BSN and Beyond

As with each group of Year 13 students, we celebrate with great joy the progress these students have made during their time at the BSN, developing into successful global citizens who possess the skills, knowledge, and characteristics to make a positive impact on the world. It is also bittersweet as we wish them well in their next steps; however, as members of the BSN alumni community, they will always be welcomed back to share their stories and experiences, and are forever part of our school's long history, joining the impressive ranks of the BSN alumni who are helping to build a better world.
