The 2025 school senior rugby season culminated with the BSN hosting the ISAA Rugby Sevens Tournament in Voorschoten. Ten schools and 15 teams participated in a two-day event to become crowned ISAA Champions for 2025.

A First In the ISAA Rugby Tournament: A BSN Girls' Rugby Team

It was extra special for the BSN because it was the first time a girls' team had represented the school in this event. The girls did not disappoint, with some excellent play throughout the two days.

The girls, coached by Annabel Semmence and Tom Archer, didn't concede a try until the last game of the tournament and scored over 140 points in their four games, conceding only 12 points as they rampaged to victory, beating a combined school from the American School of Paris, TASIS London and the British School of Brussels and the British School of Paris before victory over Zurich International School ensured that the girls won the overall competition without losing a game.

The BSN Boys' Team has a Strong Finish to the Season

At the same time as the girls' tournament, the boys competed in and won all four of their group games. They topped the table with victories over ZIS, ASP, American School of London, and Vienna International School, avenging Vienna for their loss in the final last year in Paris. This set up a nail-biting clash between ISH and BSN in the competition's final.

In a frenetic game, ISH quickly took a 19-0 lead before the BSN came roaring back into the game. The BSN lost 33-24.

The BSN senior rugby boys, led by Coach Gent and Coach Cook, can hold their heads high after a superb performance throughout the tournament.

The boys' senior season has now come to an end, while the younger boys travel to Rosslyn Park to compete in the Rosslyn Park Under-13s competition.

Girls' Team in London After ISAA

Shortly after the ISAA tournament, 12 intrepid girls' rugby players travelled to London to play a game against a team from Canada as the curtain raiser for the Women's Premiership Rugby Final between Gloucester-Hartpury and Saracens. On Saturday, the team explored Camden Market and Central London before eating at Borough Market.

On Sunday, the girls travelled up to North London, where they played really well in only their third day of playing rugby against a much more experienced team from Burlington, Ontario. The final score was 3 tries to 1 to the Burlington Cougars, but all the girls can hold their heads high after a real battle on the pitch!

A number of the girls are showing that they have the ability to develop their skills and possibly be part of the main event in the future!

Well done girls, we are all very proud of you!
