Whole School Announcement

To the members of The British School in the Netherlands (BSN) and Exeter School communities,

As you will be aware, Louise Simpson has been appointed CEO of The British School in the Netherlands (BSN), with the original plan being for her to join the BSN school community in January 2026. In recent weeks, however, as Exeter School has finalised its arrangements for an interim Head, both schools have worked closely together to ensure a smooth and well-considered transition — one that serves the best interests of both institutions, as well as Louise and her family.

Given that the Deputy Head (Academic), Graham Bone, at Exeter School is in a position to assume the interim Headship earlier than anticipated, and that the BSN is currently without a CEO, we have worked together and agreed to bring forward the transition. This coordinated timeline will help ensure continuity and stability across both educational communities, and we are grateful for the positive partnership between our two schools that has helped achieve this result.

Louise will therefore conclude her time at Exeter School following the publication of exam results in August and will take up her new role at the BSN in September 2025, in time for the start of the new academic year.

Over the coming term, Louise will work closely with Graham, Board Members, and School Leadership to ensure a smooth handover.

An international move brings many considerations, but we are confident that the transition will be seamless and that both Louise and Graham will be well prepared to begin their new roles with confidence in September.

We are sure you will join us in wishing them both every success as they embark on this exciting next chapter.

Yours sincerely,

Gillian Hodgetts

Peter Bayliff OBE
