Festive Cheer as We End the Year

‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’

To celebrate the end of winter term and showcase our talented students (and staff), a variety of festive performances were staged across the BSN. It was a chance for each student to shine. Their confidence, musical ability, and comic timing were impressive. The British School in The Netherlands is a school that values the performance arts and is a place where such talents can develop; both within the curriculum and through co-curricular activities.

Each performance was full of warmth and festive cheer and brought everyone together in the holiday spirit. There were musical showcases, choir performances, sing-alongs, drama, comical interludes and of course, no festive season would be complete without a panto or two (oh, no it wouldn’t!).

There were too many highlights to list them all but here is a short selection:

  • Senior School Leidschenveen rocking out during their Winter Celebration Showcase. No elaborate set-pieces were needed in the new sports hall, the talent on stage was more than enough.

  • The JSL Winter Performance which featured an original song, ‘Cold Snap,’ devised by one of our talented music teachers and involving some musical sneezing.

  • Foundation 2 students at Junior School Vlaskamp performing jolly jungle tunes and 'Jingle Bells' as animals.

  • Staff involvement, which was not always limited to behind the scenes. In fact, staff at the Junior Schools took to the stage to perform the tradition of the pantomime for the students, which is obviously hilarious for the students. While, over at Senior School Voorschoten, students who witnessed the staff band perform, may have been surprised to discover the musical talents of their own teachers.

Happy Holidays to all!
