Congratulations to The British School in The Netherlands (BSN) Class of 2023 students for the excellent A-Level and BTEC results they received today, 17 August.

Patrick Heuff, Headteacher of Senior School Voorschoten, remarked:

We are extremely proud of another set of outstanding results this summer. I want to congratulate our graduating students, who should be very proud of what they have achieved.

I also want to thank our teachers, who have done an amazing job supporting them over the last two years".

Celebrating the BSN's Class of 2023 Achievements

As a non-selective school, the results at A-Level and BTEC are especially notable. 36% of all grades were graded A*- A and 85% of all grades were graded A* - C. Five students earned four or more A* grades.

All of the BSN BTEC students in the Hospitality and Creative Media programmes achieved Distinction*, an exceptional outcome, and there were some fantastic results in the Business programme, as well.

Heath Monk, CEO of The British School in The Netherlands, said:

"Congratulations to all our A-Level and BTEC students who received their results today. This set of results is impressive, particularly in the context of the challenges these students have navigated.

I would also like to applaud the individual progress made and the skills and knowledge our young people have gained during their time with us.

I wish all of the students the best of luck as they move on in their journeys and build on the solid foundation they have developed at the BSN".

A Return to the Pre-pandemic Grade Boundaries

As reported in the media, this year's A-Level and BTEC results are the first to return to the pre-pandemic grade boundaries. After several years of turbulence, the results achieved by the 2023 class of BSN students are even more impressive, reflecting their diligence, resilience and sustained hard work over the last two years. Mr Heuff noted, "We were very pleased to see today's results compare favourably to our historic results in 2018 and 2019".

BSN Students Gain Places at Top Universities

Students have secured spots in renowned universities in the Netherlands, the UK and around the world. Six students are awaiting final confirmation (due to the later start of the academic year in the Southern Hemisphere) for universities in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. They are off to destinations such as TU Delft, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, University of California, Santa Barbara, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, HZ University of Applied Sciences and the University of Michigan.

Well over 90% of our students have been accepted into their preferred choice of University, and others will achieve their places through clearing and with support from our Careers team.

'As always, the destinations are worldwide and varied, reflecting the diverse nature of our student body. These results sit alongside our fantastic IB results, which we celebrated in July and reflect the diverse range of pathways available to our students at SSV".

The Support from the BSN Community

Along with celebrating the dedication and hard work the students have demonstrated, it is important to recognise the incredible support they have received from the community: the teachers, staff, and, of course, their families and classmates.

As the class of 2023 moves from students to members of our alumni community, we look forward to welcoming them back, hearing their experiences and celebrating their successes in the future.

Congratulations, class of 2023!
